The Artist

I have been drawing, painting, sculpting, cutting and pasting for as long as I can remember. My lifelong enjoyment of art turned into a passion for graphic design while studying at the University of Iowa. Upon completion of my formal education, I set out to explore the world of "real jobs." Earnestly holding on to the belief that I can make a living doing what I love, my quest for a voice and a place in this world is well underway.

The Work

My work often depicts everyday objects in ways that emphasize the beauty and interest I find in them. I also study graphic styles of the twentieth century to learn their techniques and explore how these styles can be adapted to meet contemporary needs. In my design work I strive, above all, to communicate clearly and effectively, in a form and style that is appropriate for the intended audience.

The Site

What does sushi have to do with art and design? Whether surfing the web or enjoying your favorite Japanese cuisine, you will find similar items grouped together, lined up in a row, and placed in their respective boxes. Each object has a place and the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. "Serving" my website on a sushi dish is an exploration of these similarities. I am also fascinated by websites that offer a sense of depth and place. The sushi setting has allowed me to explore this concept as well.
